Emiline's Review of Kat, Incorrigible

My Book Report on:
 Kat, Incorrigible
(The Unladylike Adventures of Kat Stephenson #1)

I love magic, but I wasn't really into it until I read Kat, Incorrigible by Stephanie Burgis.  Kat Stephenson is hidden from a very important part of her life--her Mama's Guardian Magic.  Her Stepmamma has hidden all her mama's magic items, except for the magic books Angeline and Elissa have.

Angeline has secretly been using magic (for love spells) and Kat eventually finds out.  Kat also finds her mama's magic mirror, which brings her to the order where she meets Mr. Gregson and Lady Fotherington, who tell her about her magic.

Can Kat learn to use her powers and help her sisters connect with their true loves or will Elissa have to marry Sir Neville, a man who is only after Kat's magic?

Stephanie Burgis's book was engaging because it was beautifully written.  She used big words--wow words--interesting words you don't use every single day.   I liked Kat because she because she was very brave when she got into dangerous situations.  And also because she was very magical.  The book was also magical.  That is why I give it 5 monsters.

By the way, "incorrigible" is a Wow Word.  Here's the definition from Merriam-Webster:
Main Entry: 1in·cor·ri·gi·ble
Pronunciation: (primarystress)in-primarystresskodotr-schwa-jschwa-bschwal, -primarystresskär-
Function: adjective
: not able to be corrected or reformed <an incorrigible gambler>

I give Kat, Incorrigible by Stephanie Burgis 5 Monsters out of 5!

I got Kat, Incorrigible as a gift.  You can find this book at your favorite Indie Bookstore or your local or school library.
