My Review of The Phantom Tollbooth:

     Milo never has anything to do; he's always bored. He has a lot of time on his hands.  One day, a turnpike tollbooth appears in his room and there is a note on it.  It says the rules for using the tollbooth and there is a sign that says to have your destination in your mind.  Milo unfolds the map and chooses a place called Dictionopolis.  
     Milo hops into his electric automobile and heads to Dictionopolis.  He drives through a place called Expectations and then gets stuck in the Doldrums. (The Doldrums is a place where nothing happens or changes.)  He meets a watch dog named Tock that watches over the Doldrums.  Milo asks if  Tock can help him find his way out.  Tock says Milo must know why he got there and Milo says it was because he was not thinking. 

     Tock agrees to help Milo get to Dictionopolis where they take on a quest to return Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason, the peace makers between the kings of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis.  Milo and Tock also meet one of their companions called the Humbug when they arrive in Dictionopolis.  They visit the island of Conclusions (you jump to it) and they also visit Digitopolis were they meet The Math Magician.

     Can Milo and his companions rescue Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason?

     The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster was a fantastic book.  It was very engaging.  I probably would have never picked up this book if it were not for all of my good friends at Little Shop of Stories.  There is a program there called On The Same Page and everyone is reading the same book at the same time.

I give The Phantom Tollbooth 5 monsters.

Emiline's Review on Ghosthunters and the Incredibly Revolting Ghost

     Are you ready for some graveyard- digging fun?  Well, then you should read Ghosthunters and the Incredibly Revolting Ghost! by Cornelia Funke.  Now let's get to my summary!

     Tom has a ghost in his cellar, but nobody believes him.  Finally, Tom tells his grandma.  His grandma has a friend named Hetty Hyssop, and she's Ghosthunter.  Hetty can catch any ghost she sees!

     The cellar ghost's name is Hugo.  Hugo told Tom he was living in Tom's cellar because his old house had been taken over by another ghost.  Hetty Hyssop said that it would very dangerous to get rid of the ghost in Hugo's old house, because it would an incredibly revolting ghost.  Tom wanted to try to get the of the ghost anyway, because he wanted Hugo to go so much.  Tom was actually becoming friends with Hugo, but he was just sick of Hugo scaring him.  The question is can Tom and Hetty get the incredibly revolting ghost out of Hugo's house?  Find in Ghosthunters and the Incredibly Revolting Ghost! by Cornelia Funke.

I give this book 4 Monsters!

I recommend this book for kids who want a chill up their spine.  This book is not for kids who don't like scary stuff.

    The force is in one special school with ... a paper Yoda!?!   Anyway, origami Yoda was funny, crazy, and great!! So were the characters: Tommy was nice. Dwight was funny and weird. Harvey was, well, just mean. People heard about origami Yoda because of, you know, gossip.  Well, soon enough every one was asking origami Yoda about random stuff and he was always right.  Everyone wrote down adventures with origami Yoda in Tommy’s notebook. Surprisingly it was a setup for the boys, Tommy and Dwight, to get girls—because they’re nerds.  But then how did Origami Yoda tell the future ???   Is it just Dwight’s hand or is it really the force?  Find out in Origami Yoda.

My Book Report for The Strange Case of Origami YODA

Tommy is gathering information to see if Origami Yoda can tell the future or not.  Origami Yoda is a finger puppet that is used by a middle-schooler named Dwight.  The students of McQuarrie Middle School’s seventh grade believe that Origami Yoda might be able to tell the future.

       Tommy needs to prove that Origami Yoda can tell the future so, if he asks a girl out to the dance, he won’t make a fool of himself.

       I think Origami Yoda is a great book for all people who like Star Wars.  It is jam-packed with humor.  I liked how it was so descriptive.  If you like this book, don’t miss book two, Darth Paper Strikes Back. It is coming soon.  I think it will be great, like the first book. I give Origami YODA five monsters.

In the little town of Bathory, there is a boy with a big secret . . .

Vladimir Tod is a typical middle/ high-schooler.  Or is he?  He is a vampire. 

(No.  He's not Mr. Sparkly Hunk; he's a loser.  Girl's don't swoon when he walks by.)

But Vlad is not a normal vampire.  He's the Pravus--the vampire that will rule over vampire kind and enslave the human race.  But he does not know that until later.  There are vampires trying to steal his title and slayers trying to stake him.  Can he live?

My mom recommended the first book to me early this year and I loved it.  Heather Brewer is a great author.  (We also have the same favorite band and I think she is hilarious.  You should check out her blog.)  I like the book because sometimes I feel a little like Vlad.  Well, I'm not being hunted, but I don't exactly fit in.  

I am very excited about her next series, The Slayer Chronicles.  But you'll have to read The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod to find out who the slayer is.  I can't wait to see what happens.

I give the entire series 5,000 monsters out of 5.
