Marsh Reports on Dean Lorey's NIGHTMARE ACADEMY: MONSTER HUNTERS

Marsh Reports on Dean Lorey's Nightmare Academy: Monster Hunters

Charlie has a gift. He has been able to bring monsters through portals while he slept since he was very young.  He's always felt alone.  But he has learned that there are others like him.  He is sent to a school called Nightmare Academy where he learns to control his powers.
Charlie accidentally opens a portal and a Class Five (the worst type of monster) Netherstalker starts to walk through.  But just in time, Charlie slams the portal shut, cutting the monster's hand off.
The monster's wrist had an important artifact on it--the artifact allows the monsters to communicate with other species of monsters.  The Netherstalker demands Charlie return the artifact or they will kill his parents.  Can Charlie save them?  Find out in Nightmare Academy: Monster Hunters.
I think Monster Hunters had the perfect amount of action and some suspense to weigh it out.  I liked how detailed it was.  What I really liked was the main character, Charlie.  He was very heroic and determined at times.  I can't wait to read the second book.  I give Nightmare Academy: Monster Hunters five out of five monsters.

To find this book check your school or local library, or you can find it at your local Indie Bookstore!

Emiline Reports on APHRODITE THE DIVA by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams

Emiline Reports on Aphrodite the Diva
by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams

Me, well I personally don't get into people's love live's.  But it sounds like somebody should tell Aphrodite that!
Back at Mount Olympus Academy, Aphrodite got a D for her hero-ology  class because it started the Trojan war. She had a lot of ideas but finally came up with the best idea she could possibly think of.  Since she was the one and only goddess of love, she would start a lonely hearts club for mortals.  But apparently she is not the only goddess of love.  In Egypt, there is another goddess of love--Isis.
When the two goddesses meet, they have a contest to find out who is the true goddess of love.  Find out who wins in Aphrodite the Diva.
I like everything about this series of books.  They are full of action, drama and tragedy.  And sometimes, they are so humorous.  I've also learned a lot from reading this series, like: not to be a diva, not to judge people and not to turn people into spiders.  I've also learned a lot about Greek Mythology.
As a matter of fact, I chose this series because my brother was reading Percy Jackson and I wanted to give Greek Mythology a try.  I am so glad I did.
Aphrodite the Diva has all the action you can get from Divas.  I give it five out of five monsters, plus one bonus monster for the entire Goddess Girls series. You should really read this great, gorgeous series.

To find this book go to your school library or local library, or you can find it at your local Indie Bookstore, Barnes and Noble, or Amazon.

Special Report: Marsh Reviews Heather Brewer's THE SLAYER CHRONICLES: FIRST KILL

The Slayer Chronicles:
First Kill
By Heather Brewer

A Spoiler Free Book Report by Marsh

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out for a long time.  I have read all the Vladimir Tod books and Heather Brewer is my favorite author.  I was eager to see what she wrote next and where she took her character, Joss.
My mom went to ComicCon and since I read Heather Brewer’s blog, I knew my Auntie Heather was going to be there!!  AND she would have advanced reader copies of The First Kill.  My mom said she’d TRY to find her.
I was shocked when my mom called me and she said, “Guess who I’m looking at?”
I said, “Who?”
She said, “Heather Brewer.”
I was like, “OH. MY. VLAD.”
My mom put someone on the phone.  I ended up talking to my favorite author, HEATHER BREWER!  When my mom came home, I had The First Kill and a signed copy of Eighth Grade Bites.  Inside Eighth Grade Bites it said, “It was FANGtastic talking to you on the phone”.

The Slayer Chronicles: The First Kill is thrilling.  I never knew what was going to happen next.  I enjoyed that it was from Joss’ point of view.  And I love how it started out when he was ten, especially since I’m a ten-year old boy. But unlike Joss, my sister didn’t die at the hands of a vampire, although sometimes she thinks she is one.  I’m not very strong either.  I’m not that agile.  In fact, I’m really only fast when something is chasing me.  Good thing Joss isn’t me.  He’d never make it as a slayer.
From the age of ten through thirteen, Joss gets stronger, and faster, and becomes a Slayer.  That is mostly what this book is about.  The First Kill changed my opinion of Joss, but Vlad will always be my favorite.
This is one of the best books I’ve read.  I would recommend it to people who love Vladimir Tod and to fans of Joss, but if you haven’t read any other Heather Brewer books, you should start with Eighth Grade Bites!

I give it ten monsters—out of five.

Find out more about Heather Brewer's awesome books at www.vladtod.com  AND www.slayerchronicles.com . To find out more about Heather Brewer visit her website at http://www.heatherbrewer.com/ .

The Strange Case of Origami YODA

The Strange Case of Origami YODA
Origami Yoda #1

Book Report by Emiline
The force is in one special school with ... a paper Yoda!?!   Anyway, origami Yoda was funny, crazy, and great!! So were the characters: Tommy was nice. Dwight was funny and weird. Harvey was, well, just mean. People heard about origami Yoda because of, you know, gossip.  Well, soon enough every one was asking origami Yoda about random stuff and he was always right.  Everyone wrote down adventures with origami Yoda in Tommy’s notebook. Surprisingly it was a setup for the boys, Tommy and Dwight, to get girls—because they’re nerds.  But then how did Origami Yoda tell the future ???   Is it just Dwight’s hand or is it really the force?  Find out in Origami Yoda.

My Book Report for The Strange Case of Origami YODA
By Marsh

Tommy is gathering information to see if Origami Yoda can tell the future or not.  Origami Yoda is a finger puppet that is used by a middle-schooler named Dwight.  The students of McQuarrie Middle School’s seventh grade believe that Origami Yoda might be able to tell the future.

Tommy needs to prove that Origami Yoda can tell the future so, if he asks a girl out to the dance, he won’t make a fool of himself.
I think Origami Yoda is a great book for all people who like Star Wars.  It is jam-packed with humor.  I liked how it was so descriptive.  If you like this book, don’t miss book two, Darth Paper Strikes Back. It is coming soon.  I think it will be great, like the first book. I give Origami YODA five monsters.
