Marsh Reports on Dean Lorey's NIGHTMARE ACADEMY: MONSTER HUNTERS

Marsh Reports on Dean Lorey's Nightmare Academy: Monster Hunters

Charlie has a gift. He has been able to bring monsters through portals while he slept since he was very young.  He's always felt alone.  But he has learned that there are others like him.  He is sent to a school called Nightmare Academy where he learns to control his powers.
Charlie accidentally opens a portal and a Class Five (the worst type of monster) Netherstalker starts to walk through.  But just in time, Charlie slams the portal shut, cutting the monster's hand off.
The monster's wrist had an important artifact on it--the artifact allows the monsters to communicate with other species of monsters.  The Netherstalker demands Charlie return the artifact or they will kill his parents.  Can Charlie save them?  Find out in Nightmare Academy: Monster Hunters.
I think Monster Hunters had the perfect amount of action and some suspense to weigh it out.  I liked how detailed it was.  What I really liked was the main character, Charlie.  He was very heroic and determined at times.  I can't wait to read the second book.  I give Nightmare Academy: Monster Hunters five out of five monsters.

To find this book check your school or local library, or you can find it at your local Indie Bookstore!

  10. Donna,
Thank you. It was a good book, but if you are looking for a book for kids who don't like scary books, The Strange Case of Origami Yoda is a good choice. I am so glad you are following our blog and enjoy it.

Sounds like a really interesting book, Nightmare Academy sounds like a really scary school that only monsters would love or Charlie.

  15. Hi Marsh,
I love it that you are writing about your reading experience. I like to read alot of childrens and young adult books even though I'm in my 30's. This one, Nightmare Academy, sounds like one I would enjoy! I wish more youngsters would do the same! We need more young readers out there spreading the good vibe about reading and how its so much better than video games!

  21. Hey Marsh and Emiline,
Thanks for your blog. Very cool stuff. It's taken me quite a while to find this kind of blog. Wish I'd done this kind of stuff when I was young. Of course, back then I'd have had to use the telegraph. Anyway, I can't figure out how to offer you (Marsh) a digital review copy of STORIES GUARANTEED TO MAKE YOU SICK. It's been read by hundreds of middle schoolers -- I was a teacher for a long time -- and it lives up (or down) to its name. Humor, horror, a little nasal fiction. What's not to like? Go to the "Our Books" page of Freaky Dude Books and click on the STORIES cover. Read the big preview there -- if your parents want to read it, that's fine too -- and tell me if you want a Amazon gift copy sent to you in exchange for your honest review. You can write me at ddanielberenson (AT) gmail.com. I know when I get the books in kids' ereaders, that will be my best marketing tool. Thanks, best of luck, and congratulations on your very awesome blog. You guys have guts!
